Constitution & Bylaws Revision Committee

📜 Rewrite the Rules – Together!


Our Constitution and Bylaws are the backbone of our union. It’s time for updates, and YOU can help decide what our future looks like.  We are beginning the process of revising our union’s Constitution and Bylaws in preparation for a membership vote during our Spring General Membership Meeting in April. 


🗓️ First Meeting: Sept. 17, 2025

👉  At this meeting, we will divide into smaller working groups to review and suggest changes to different sections of the documents. These groups will meet independently throughout the year to finalize revisions.

Transparency matters! We’re looking for 3 members to help audit the last 3 years of finances  in collaboration with AFT Michigan, our Union President,  Jacqui Coluccy, and our Treasurer, Bill Sherd.

Financial Audit Volunteers

 👥 Lead the Way – Become a Chair!
We have openings for committee chairs and want fresh leadership. Chairs guide important union work 


**All current committee chairs are encouraged to reapply if they wish to continue.**


📌 Committees Needing YOU:

  • 🗳️ Nominations &      Elections - Oversee nominations, ballots, and election results. 
  • 🛡️ Health & Safety -  Monitor and advise on health and safety concerns. 
  • ⚖️ Grievance -  Handle member grievances and make procedural recommendations. 
  • 📰 Publications -  Manage newsletters, website, and other communications. 
  • 🎓 Conference -  Allocate resources for members to attend professional conferences. 

 Other Committees

(no formal descriptions but active roles):

  • 🗳️ Political Action

Staff Representative Expectations:

  • Represent your building or group and communicate union updates
  • Serve as a point of contact for contract-related questions
  • Participate in at least Step 1 of grievance procedures
  • Attend Executive Council and General Membership meetings
  • Greet and assist members on Opening Day
  • Distribute union materials and promote membership
  • Attend at least one rep training per year
  • Share concerns with leadership during contract negotiations


💵 Stipend: $599/year

Delegate with Huron Valley Labor Federation (HVALF)

 💪 Step Into the Bigger Labor Movement 

We have 3 open delegate positions available with the Huron Valley Labor Federation (HVALF) - We’re looking for passionate, committed individuals to step up and represent! 

  

What is HVALF?
The Huron Valley Labor Federation is a local voice for working people, advocating for labor rights, equity, and social justice in our communities.
